Mission
The Sacramento Section of ASQ is committed to advance both individual and organizational performance excellence throughout the Sacramento Valley by providing opportunities for learning, enlightened knowledge exchange and professional growth for its membership.
Message from the Region 6 Director
ASQ has done a lot in the past year to improve communication and information access. The ASQ Web Site has a new look with a great deal more information, and Section 605 has posted their own site, joining the many other sections with excellent sites. Information has never been more available to members.
Region 6 has made a major change this year with the Deputy Regional Directors (DRDs). They are now functional as opposed to geographic. Each DRD has a project directly related to improving the products and services you enjoy or supporting section leader volunteers. Functions are Chair support, Training and Education, Metrics, SMP, Financial, Certification, AQP, Koalaty Kid, Web Master, and Conference. Most of these positions are filled and contact information will be coming to the sections soon.
Message from the Chair
Those of us in the quality profession, more than many other professions, know how difficult it is to champion the reality of compromise. We study the value of six-sigma quality, of investing our quality budgets on prevention and appraisal. We seek the root cause; we replace "gut feel" with analysis and information-based decision-making; we are the ones who reject product and find opportunities in process audits. This is all because we have our hand on the pendulum. We pull, prod, push, and cajole to leverage our processes and products toward perfection, knowing that the forces of variation, cost, and errors have enormous gravity and the advantage of entropy and time. The members of our section each have these Draconian realities to face as quality professionals – and so the section leadership is committed to provide education and resources to support in this endeavor. This commitment is also to learn and earn the measure of satisfaction of our members, because, to keep one who knows the meaning of high standards highly satisfied is indeed a worthy objective. We care about quality people – come join us. Our Section and Board meetings are open to the public and we invite your constructive participation.
